The USTA Adult and Junior National Wheelchair Tennis Championships were held Nov. 13-16, 2025, in McDonough, Georgia. More than 60 participants from all over the country took part in the four-day event. There were five divisions in both singles and doubles competing for Gold, Silver, and Bronze USTA Balls.
Several of the ALTA participants added to their trophy cases. Jennifer Speer placed second in Women’s Open Doubles. Ki Yum finished first in A Doubles, and Rob Popelka took second in the same division. Ken Moore and Vincenzo Piscopo took first in D Doubles, and Moore also finished second in D Singles. ALTA junior player, Jordan Bates, finished first in C Singles and third in C Doubles. Dennis Hantman and junior player Caleb Yum also participated in the annual tournament.
Richard Craig Park has hosted this tournament since 2007, and Harlon Matthews, Henry County Wheelchair Sports Coordinator, said the 2025 event was very successful.
“We had a really great tournament with 67 players who traveled from as far west as California and as far north as Maine,” Matthews said. “We were fortunate enough to have weather in the 70s each day to enhance the tournament experience for all who were there. Great staff, dedicated volunteers, and superior officiating all contributed to a championship-level event. We are looking forward to hosting the championships again from November 12-15, 2026!”
