Tennis courts at the Fieldstone community in Cumming were a sea of pink on the weekend of May 19-21. Team Breasta Fiesta hosted its inaugural tennis fundraiser for the Atlanta 2-Day Walk for Breast Cancer. The team will travel to Atlanta on Nov. 11 in order to participate in the walk that will cover 30 miles in two days. Funds raised by walk participants benefit breast health and breast cancer programs in local Georgia communities.
The Breasta Fiesta team set a lofty goal to raise $100,000 for the worthy cause. Since many members of the team are residents of a large tennis community, it was sensible to organize a tennis tournament in order to raise a portion of the funds. Tennis players of all levels were invited to play in well-organized tournaments for the cost of a donation to team Breasta Fiesta. The weekend tournament included match play, raffles, food, drinks and a fun atmosphere. A few days of tennis brought the team $8,000 closer to their goal.
