It’s not your run-of-the-mill ladies’ team name, but it was enough to win over Mizuno. “Baby got backhand” was the name selected by Stephanie Halpern and her spring Sandy Springs Sunday Women’s League A1 team who made it all the way to City Finals. They, along with about 15 other women’s playoff teams, entered the ALTA contest by submitting the best team name.

Mizuno outfitted the entire winning team with 2021 Wave Exceed Tour 4 AC shoes. Halpern’s team made the name choice because their line 1 player is Carolyn Petrosian, and she had her first child, William James, during the spring ALTA season, making her the first and only mom on the team. We are sure baby William will be their team mascot for years to come.

Look for another contest possibly for the 2022 winter Mixed Doubles playoff teams, so don’t worry fellas. Mizuno will outfit you, too, along with your mixed doubles partner. More details to come on the ALTA website and in the next issue of Net News.
