Kennesaw State University’s Director of Tennis, Matt Emery, announced the addition of Taylor Dean and Sofia Pinedo who will join the Owls in the fall of 2019.

Dean brings both international junior and WTA professional experience, having competed in numerous WTA events against some of the best players in the world. She was born in Switzerland, but currently lives and trains in Port St. Lucie, Florida.

“We are really excited to welcome Taylor into the Owl family,” Emory said. “She comes from a great family and has been well-coached throughout her junior career with Lex Carrington and at Club Med Academies. What excites us the most about Taylor is the fact that her best tennis is still ahead of her. She is going to accomplish some very special things during her time as an Owl.”

Pinedo hails from Madrid, Spain where she attends IES Manuel Fraga Iribarne. She ranks No.68 in the Spanish Women’s Open Rankings. She has multiple wins over players inside the Top 10 in the Spanish Junior Singles Rankings.

“We are really excited about Sofia becoming a part of Owl Nation,” Emery stated. “She is a crafty left-hander that has the ability to beat opponents in several different ways. The thing that was glaringly obvious to every coach in the recruiting process is how smart of a player Sofia is. The overlooked element of her game, however, is that she is a deceptively great athlete. Having been ranked inside the Top 70 in Spain in the Women’s Rankings, as well as a top 18 and under junior player in Spain, she is going to bring very valuable experience to our program, and I can’t wait to see her develop over the next four years.”

The women’s team is off until the spring schedule opens Jan. 16, 2019 at Kentucky.
